Abstract

Skin Conductance Response (SCR) may include reliable information about human emotions. In this study, we find and confirm the SCR signals associated with emotions (ESCR), such as calm, happy, angry, grief and fear are deterministic and nonlinear by surrogate data analysis. As for the emotion classification experiment, the overall recognition rates are 67%-72% by Fisher, 67%-76% by k-NN, 66%72% by LDC and 73%-87% by QDC, respectively. The results from this study provide strong evidence that SCR signals associated with emotions are nonlinear, and the effectiveness of nonlinear features for emotion recognition is also confirmed.
