Abstract

The possibility of reducing emittance in the storage rings composed of expanded Chasman Green lattice has been studied to increase the brilliance of X‐rays emitted from insertion devices (IDs). The method adopted here is to reduce the integrated value of H(s)=γx(s)ηx(s)2+2αx(s)ηx(s)η′x(s )+βx(s)η′x(s)2 inside the bending magnets by positively breaking the doubly achromatic condition. Although dispersion at the IDs increases the spread of electron beams at the source points associated with the parameters of the IDs, emittance can be totally decreased. An example in the practical lattice design shows that this method is effective for approach to smaller emittance keeping transverse and longitudinal stability.
