Abstract

Results from plasma wave experiments in spacecraft give support to nonlinear interactions involving Langmuir waves (L), electromagnetic waves (T) and ion-acoustic waves (S) in association with type III solar radio bursts. In this paper we analyze fundamental electromagnetic emission induced from a pair of different amplitude oppositely propagating Langmuir waves including induced Langmuir waves. We obtain the general dispersion relation for the coupled waves from the generalized Zakharov equations. We numerically solve dispersion relation using observed interplanetary parameters. We find that the stability properties depend on the pump wave numbers and on the relative amplitude (r) between the forward and backward pump wave.
