Abstract

A model of a plasma ion emitter is considered for two types of velocity distribution of plasma electrons: the sum of two Maxwellian velocity distributions with different temperatures and the sum of a Maxwellian distribution and a directed flux. Criteria for the formation of a plasma emission surface are derived. The effect of the parameters of the electron distribution on the magnitude of the perturbation of the quasi-neutral emitting plasma by the external electric field of the negative electrode and on the emission current density is considered. A comparison with the Bohm case is performed.
