Abstract

ABSTRACT The present work deals with the effect of doping pentanol blends with cashew nut biodiesel and compared with neat diesel. Cashew nut is a non-edible oil, derived from a by-product of the cashew nut industry. it is renewable in nature, bio-degradable and non-edible fuel. By transesterification process, cashew nut biodiesel was derived from cashew nut shell oil and pentanol is an oxygenated fuel. The experiment was conducted by diesel, cashew nut biodiesel (CNBD), pentanol blends 10% and 20% with cashew nut biodiesel (CNBD90P10, CNBD80P20). Neat biodiesel emission characteristics work also conducted. Test fuels experiment work was conducted without modification of the engine. Moreover, the engine runs smooth and no visible damage was found by using neat CNBD. Doping 10% and 20% of pentanol blends to CNBD shows reduced CO, HC and smoke emission while compared to diesel and neat CNBD.
