The centenary of the death of the suffragette Emily Wilding Davison was marked in the summer of 2013 by an impressive variety of commemorative activity. This Viewpoint discusses a few of the events staged and books published, considering the way in which Emily Davison is now presented to us. Has her reality become obscured by the drama of her death?
