Abstract

tion of cognitive screens may enhance diagnostic and treatment decisions in the psychiatric emergency service while minimizing the time, resources, and cost of delivering services to patients who present for emergency services. In the first column in this series (5), we reviewed cognitive screening batteries that may be used in the psychiatric emergency service. In this follow-up column, we highlight the use of four cognitive tests that can be used alone or in combination in a flexible strategic approach to aid in the detection of cognitive deficits and facilitate triage decisions in the psychiatric emergency service.
