Abstract

Francis Manfredo spent 24 years in the fire service as a career firefighter and 20 years as a police officer before he moved to Hamilton College. “For 18 of those years, my careers overlapped,” Manfredo said. During that time, Manfredo also went back to school to earn a master's degree in public administration. Around the time he graduated, the opportunity for the position at Hamilton College as the director of campus safety came open and Manfredo applied. “Having experience in both fire service and law enforcement gave me a really well‐rounded background to present to an institution looking to be better prepared,” Manfredo said.
