Abstract

Health Education England (HEE) will increase the number of training posts in emergency medicine and general practice and decrease the number of core surgical training places next year. On Tuesday, after approval from its board, HEE published its first workforce plan for England,1 setting out the investments it intends to make in education and training programmes that begin in September 2014. HEE local education and training boards are proposing 20 additional posts in acute care common stem (ACCS) core training in emergency medicine, a 5.6% increase.
