Abstract

This article will review in detail the mechanisms and anatomy of injuries that lead to life-threatening emergencies from pelvic trauma, examining the facets of care for such cases from the point of injury through to the latest developments in hybrid operating strategies. Damage control resuscitation principles, the trauma mindset and the specialist vantage point for major trauma management will be covered to critically appraise the current concepts and explore where future improvements may be on the horizon.
