Abstract

This 23-chapter text covers the entire spectrum of services provided in the field of emergency interventional radiology. The contributions by more than 28 authors produce an interesting variety in both the depth of coverage and the viewpoints expressed in the book, the primary focus of which is interventional vascular procedures in the emergency setting (16 of the 23 chapters are devoted to vascular topics). The text discusses embolotherapy, fibrinolytic therapy, and venous thromboembolic disease in depth; other chapters review emergency interventional radiologic studies of the biliary tract, the genitourinary tract, and the central nervous system. Although some pediatric considerations are presented, the text deals primarily with the adult patient. The graphs and radiographic illustrations are excellent—well chosen and situated close to the relevant text.
