Abstract
The strength of relationship between all types of emergency department (ED) attendance, the characteristics of the populations concerned and primary care were examined in this study. A multivariate linear regression analysis was undertaken on a dataset constructed from the General Practice Patient Survey (GPPS) in England, the Quality and Outcome Framework data and A&E attendance, and population characteristics data from the Health and Social Care Information Centre.
