Abstract

(Anaesthesia. 2022;77:1416–1429) Anesthesia providers are essential team members when managing obstetric emergencies. Based on the examination of primary research, practice guidelines, and professional recommendations in the last 5 years, a focused review was developed around 6 key topics in obstetric emergency management: category-1 cesarean delivery (CD), difficult or failed airway, massive hemorrhage (PPH), hypertensive crisis, neuraxial anesthesia emergency, and maternal cardiac arrest. The importance of staying current on research and guidelines is highlighted to ensure patient safety and the development of best practices.
