Abstract

Circulating cell free DNA (cfDNA) are short fragments of double-stranded molecules released following physiological and pathological cell necrosis and apoptosis. Evidence from several mammalian species indicates that spent media from cleavage or blastocyst-stage embryos contain circulating cfDNA. The aim of the study was to explore the potential of embryonic cfDNA as a tool for non-invasive preimplantation genetic diagnosis and screening (PGD/PGS) of embryos obtained during IVF treatment.
