Introduction

This special issue illustrates the wide diversity of the field of military social work. There has been a rapidly growing emphasis on the challenges of military personnel, veterans, and their families. Military social work involves direct practice; policy and administrative activities; and advocacy including providing prevention, treatment, and rehabilitative services to service members, veterans, their families, and their communities.
