Abstract

Objective To explore the efficacy and safety of embolization of dural arteriovenous fistula (DAVF) via artery route with Scepter double channel tube and ONYX-18. Methods During the period of March 2012 and March 2014, 7 patients with DAVF received embolization via artery route using Scepter double channel tube and ONYX-18. The methods and safety and reliability were summarized and analyzed. Results Angiography immediately after treatment showed cure in 6 patients, small amount of residues remained in one (orificium fistulae disappeared after carotid artery compression 3 months after treatment). One patient had facial paraesthesia and the symptom was relieved after symptomatic treatment. All patients were followed up for 6-12 months, Glasgow outcome scale (GOS) scores were 5 in all patients. Angiographic follow-up was carried out in 6 patients, showing complete occlusion of DAVFs in all patients. Conclusion Treatment of DAVF using Scepter double channel tube and ONYX-18 via artery route is convenient, safe and reliable. Key words: Dural arteriovenous fistula; Embolization; Therapeutic; ONYX-18
