Abstract

Recently my technician was upset about a call she received from a pharmacy benefi t manager (PBM) who wanted to know why we were fi lling a 30-day supply for a patient who had been getting a 90-day supply from another pharmacy. She explained that the patient, who has an intellectual disability, was referred to our pharmacy for assistance with medication adherence and specialized compliance packaging due to his nonadherence history and past challenges in managing his medications.
