Abstract
Layered circular plates are placed on a blanking die and their centre part is sheared by a punch. When the punch is stopped in the middle of the lower plate thickness, the separated upper disk is embedded into the lower plate. In order to evaluate the joint strength, shear test for the joint is examined. Strain gages are also employed for calculating the elastic stress and the inner pressure along the boundary. Alternative embedding methods are employed for comparing the strength. It is easy for similar materials to be embedded. For the dissimilar materials, a larger difference in material strength makes embedding difficult. For the alternative ways of embedding, the strength does not exceed that in the present process.
