Abstract

The Z-source inverter has a unique impedance network which can boost up the input voltage and protect against a short circuit. However, the conventional Z-source inverter has disadvantages which are low boost factor, the voltage stress for the Z-source capacitors, and the discrete input current. This paper proposes a circuit which has the switched inductor and embeds the input voltage sources in the Z-source impedance network. The proposed circuit has high boost ratio, reduces the capacitor voltage stress, and realizes the low ripple input current. The operation of the proposed circuit has been confirmed by circuit experiments.
