Abstract

As the important implementation of biometric technology, palmprint verification is one of the most unique, reliable, and stable personal verification methods. In this paper, it introduces an embedded online palmprint verification system based on Ethernet with low-resolution palmprint images to achieve effective personal verification. The system consists of clients and server: Each client includes a novel device for online palmprint image acquisition and a RFID equipment to store personal information. Connecting the clients by Ethernet, the server runs a preprocessing approach to eliminate the noise interference and solve the problem with rotation and translation while capturing image using two locating block subgraphs. Combined with I2D-PCA algorithm to extract palmprint feature, it can achieve high genuine (98.5 percent) and low false acceptance (1.2 percent) verification rates. In addition, the execution time is less than 1 second for the whole verification process.
