Abstract

Many adolescents find it challenging to consult health professionals and a number of online services are being developed. This study investigated young people’s concerns about the communication of health-related issues through a linguistic analysis of 63,000 unedited emails sent to an online GP at the Teenage Health Freak website over 24 months. The researchers identified key words and significantly co-located words to determine whether the teenagers had positive or negative experiences in communicating health concerns.
