Abstract

Grain boundary sliding (GBS) was studied as a possible deformation mechanism for enhanced room-temperature ductility of a Mg-0.6Ca binary alloy at lower strain rates. It was revealed that the strain accommodated by GBS increased on decreasing strain rate. The studied alloy exhibited high strain rate sensitivity, attributed to GBS.
