A new laccase (EC 1.10.3.2)-type phenol oxidase has been purified from leaves of Tellima grandiflora (fringe cups, Saxifragaceae) that catalyzed the O 2-dependent coupling of two tellimagrandin II molecules to the dimeric ellagitannin, cornusiin E.
