Abstract

The A. traces the theological trajectory of Elizabeth Cady Stanton from her early contact with evangelical revivalism and evangelicalism on her role as reformer in both abolitionism and feminism is best illustrated in her feminist interpretation of the Decalogue in the Slave's Appeal (1860). This work is contrasted to her radical feminist critique in the Woman's Bible (1895-98). By examining excerpts from manuscripts written in her early and late public periods, the shift from reformer to revolutionary in Elizabeth Cady Stanton's feminist theories and interpretations will become evident
