Abstract

A study is made of transients occurring in linear networks as a result of sudden changes in network parameters. It is observed that transients can be completely eliminated by changing the state vector at the time network parameters are changed. Explicit expressions are derived for such a change in state variables. The theory is illustrated by simulations on two second order and two fifth order networks. Transient elimination is also applied to speech coding by computer simulation of a pitch excited vocoder.
