Elimination of methyl radical from acetylanisole isomers by electron impact

Abstract

The electron impact mass spectra of ortho-, meta- and para-acetylanisole isomers are investigated. The heats of formation of C 9H 10O + 2 molecular ions and C 8H 7O + 2 ions from the isomers are calculated by the MNDO program. The metastable peak for the loss of CH 3 radical for the ortho isomer is unique and of a composite kind.
