Abstract

In the present work, the authors examine the mechanical properties of AA5056 Al-Mg alloy with a submicron structure produced by ECAE process and compare these to an un-strained and fully annealed AA5056 Al-Mg alloy with a relatively large grain structure of 25 {micro}m. The main purpose of this investigation is to understand the mechanism of grain refinement and deformation characteristics at elevated temperatures nearly between 0.55 and 0.65 T{sub m} (T{sub m} = 841 K based on the solidus temperature of the alloy).
