Abstract

In this study, the validity and reliability of the critical listening / monitoring self-efficacy scale for secondary school students was conducted. The sample of the study was composed of students studying in four public secondary schools with different socioeconomic levels affiliated to Kayseri National Education Directorate. The study was performed with 259 students. 115 of them are girls and 144 of them are boys, 87 of them are 6, 87 of them are 7 and 85 of them are in 8th grade. Exploratory factor analysis was used for construct validity of the scale. As a result of the analysis, it was determined that the scale had a three-factor structure. Three factors explained 41.71% of the total variance. Cronbach alpha (α) and stratified alpha (α) internal consistency coefficients were calculated to determine the reliability of the scale. The stratified alpha coefficient in the scale was found to be 0.88. As a result of validity and reliability studies, this scale, which consists of 30 items and has three sub-dimensions, has usable features.
