Abstract
Advances in neutron-induced gamma-ray spectroscopy techniques provide a means for the evaluation of most of the minerals and fluids found in subsurface petroleum reservoir formations. Specific problems associated with the currently used neutron-reaction mechanisms and procedures are reviewed. These fall into four major categories: physics; instrumentation systems; signal processing; and calibrations. Examples of the most significant applications of induced-spectroscopy measurements are discussed. >
