Abstract

In this lecture we discuss the electroweak Standard Model, its quantum effects, and precision tests. We give an introduction to the construction of the basic Lagrangian, some details on the calculation of amplitudes at the one-loop level, higher-order calculations for electroweak precison observables are obtained, with emphasis on the W, Z masses and the Z resonance observables. The predictions of the Standard Model are compared with the experimental data, with implications for the Higgs bosons. A brief look to the supersymmetric extension of the Standard Model in terms of the MSSM and its performance in view of the precision data concludes the lecture.
