Abstract

122 As is known [1–3], electrothermal explosion (ETE) can be used as a convenient tool for investigat ing the kinetics of rapid high temperature reactions and as a method for fabrication of refractory and com posite materials. In order to provide conditions for more uniform warm up of heterogeneous green mix tures, it seemed reasonable to carry out ETE in condi tions of quasi static compression. By varying an applied pressure, one can expect to get the means for regulating the thermo and electrophysical parameters of starting reactive mixtures. In this communication, we report some results of our study on ETE in Ti–C powder mixtures under pressure.
