Abstract

Suggested is a mathematical model of electrothermal explosion (ETE) in a cylindrical sample surrounded with a shell of electrically conductive material. The profiles of temperature and extent of conversion were calculated as a function of time. It has been found that, at low electric power inputs, the ignition occurs at the sample axis while at high power inputs, near the sample surface.
