Abstract

Nickel hydroxide powder was synthesized by electrochemical oxidation of a nickel electrode under potentiostatic conditions in NaF 0.1 M. The structure and morphology of the nickel hydroxide was characterized using XRD and ATR. The study confirmed the formation of β-nickel hydroxyde. The electrochemical performance of a β-Ni(OH)2/CB-PVC electrode was investigated by cyclic voltammetry and the galvanostatic charge-discharge technique. The electrocatalytic efficiency of β-Ni(OH)2 was studied for the oxygen evolution and ethanol electrooxidation reactions in 0.1 M KOH.
