Abstract

A coaxial poly(phthalazinone ether sulfone ketone)/polyvinylidene fluoride fibrous membrane used for lithium-ion batteries was prepared by the electrospinning technique. The suitable processing parameters were chosen to obtain the core PPESK fibers with small diameter and shell PVDF fibers with large diameter simultaneously. The prepared coaxial PPESK/PVDF fibrous membranes exhibit superior thermal shutdown property and thermal dimensional stability. Meanwhile, the coaxial PPESK/PVDF membranes show larger porosity, better electrolyte wettability and higher ionic conductivity in comparison with the commercial PP/PE/PP separators. In addition, the coins cells using coaxial PPESK/PVDF membranes show excellent cycle performance, which demonstrates the membranes have the potential to be used as separators for high-performance lithium-ion batteries.
