Abstract

SummarySix phenotypes of aspartate aminotransferase (AAT) and three phenotypes of adductor muscle protein were found in extracts of the native oyster (Ostrea lurida) by starch gel electrophoresis. The AAT phenotypes were presumed to be genetic variants under the control of three allelic genes (A, B, C) and the muscle protein phenotypes under the control of a two‐allele system (A and B).
