Abstract

Summary The electrophoretic distribution and properties of ascitic fluid, induced by a modified Freund's adjuvant-antigen mixture, have been compared to isologous serum of a highly inbred line of AKR mice. Serum contains a prealbumin component not detected in ascitic fluid. The relative concentration of α2- and β-globulins was greater in the serum and ascitic fluid of immunized animals than in the serum of normal mice, whereas γ-globulin remained relatively unchanged. Anti-BSA precipitins have been demonstrated in the serum and ascitic fluid of immunized mice and have the electrophoretic properties of a β2-globulin.
