Abstract

Abstract A stoichiometry for the reductive dehalogenation of an organic halide with carbonylferrates was established: One mol of the halide was quantitatively reduced with the carbonylferrates derived from 0.2 mol of pentacarbonyliron(0) and 2 mol of cathodically-generated tetramethylammonium methoxide. The dehalogenation was also examined using a variety of halides under the stoichiometric reaction conditions.
