Abstract

The HoCo3 compound crystallizes in the rhombohedral PuNi3-type structure. Electrical resistivity of HoCo3 was measured over the temperature range 4.2-300 K. Electronic structure was calculated by the self-consistent spin-polarized linear muffin-tin orbitals method. The magnetic moments of Co are antiparallel to the Ho moments. The calculated value of total magnetic moment is equal to 6.33 μB/f.u., which is close to the experimental value 5.93 μB/f.u..
