Abstract

The effect of Electron‐magnon interaction on the energy and life time of magnons is determined. This is accomplished by solving for the poles of the spin susceptibility which is evaluated using diagram summation techniques. At zero temperature and for small wave vectors, the magnon energy is equal to the RPA value plus two terns. One term is proportional to the number of holes in the band, and the second term represents the second order perturbation correction due to virtual electronmagnon scattering. Both terms decrease the magnon energy considerably especially for low particle densities.
