Abstract
The cross sections of electron-impact single and double ionization of Fe12+ are investigated using the distorted-wave (DW) method and two-step approximate formula based on the knockout (KO) mechanism. Both direct and indirect processes are studied in single and double electron-impact ionization. The better agreements between our theoretical results and experiment measurements are obtained contrasted to earlier theoretical works. Adequate indirect ionization channels with larger configurations space are used in our calculation, which is significant for understanding of the mechanism of single and double electron-impact ionization for highly charge ion Fe12+.
