Electronic transport in solids: the resolvent method revisited

Abstract

It is shown how a straightforward generalisation of the memory function or resolvent technique yields explicit expressions approaching the exact solution of the Boltzmann equation. As an explicit example the author calculates mobility, thermopower and thermal conductivity in polar semiconductors. The dynamical conductivity is also calculated, and a general discussion of the resolvent method as opposed to using a kinetic equation is given.
