Abstract

Electronic structures in quasi-crystals are presented for icosahedral AlLiCu, AlMn, AlCuFe and decagonal AlFe, AlCuCo. The density of states exhibits a pseudogap at the Fermi energy due to the Fermi surface-lattice interaction and the pseudogap stabilizes the quasi-periodic structure. The density of states consists of a set of dense spiky peaks of width 0.01-0.02 eV. The spikiness of the density of states is crucial for the anomalous transport properties of quasi-crystals.
