Abstract
The single crystal spectra of 2,5-distyrylpyrazine (DSP) were obtained in the frequency region of a demonstrated photochemical activity. Two observed transitions, n-π ∗ and π-ggp ∗ , are assigned at 23300 and 25400 cm −1, respectively. The lower energy transition is shown to be responsible for the reported photoreactivity leading to oligomers while the higher energy one leads to formation of high polymer through an excitonic mechanism.
