Abstract

The electronic structure of some heave fermions, especially UPt3 and CeCu6, is derived experimentally. Quasiparticle bands of meV width are found near the Fermi energy. The magnetic susceptibility is calculated as a Pauli susceptibility of heavy quasiparticles, and an excellent agreement with the measurement is obtained. The saturation magnetization of UPt3 is found experimentally and theoretically to be 1μB per uranium atom.
