Abstract

Bands assigned to the gaseous FeF molecule have been photographed both in emission from hollow cathode discharges at low rotational temperature and in absorption in a King furnace. Observations of origin gaps and of lines of lowest J, combined with theoretical considerations, show that the ground state is X6 Delta i.
