Abstract
The growth of reliance on electronic resources in libraries has led to the recognition of electronic resource management (ERM) as a new problem area and specialty within librarianship and to the development of a variety of electronic resource management systems (ERMS) and services that have been widely adopted by libraries. These developments are outlined and discussed, followed by some discussion of emerging functions and standards.
