Abstract

Variable-area 16mm sound prints have an objectionable frequency-dependent distortion content when wide frequency response is attempted with conventional means. This is true even when recording and printing conditions are apparently under control. A new method is described, using a high-pass filter in conjunction with a cross-modulation compensator, for producing essentially distortionless prints with a wide frequency response.
