Abstract

This article will examine the tendencies and the perspectives in e-publishing in the world as well as Ukraine, again the principles for assignment of ISBNs to electronic publications.
 It is noted that e-book publishing demonstrates a high level of innovative development. Monitoring of domestic monographic electronic publications and the results of the analysis of the document flow of deposited publications received by the Book Chamber of Ukraine in accordance with current legislation show that publishers have difficulties in correctly interpreting certain provisions of current legal and regulatory documents. Often, publishers incorrectly assign ISBNs to electronic publications. Recommendations for the identification of monographic electronic publications in the ISBN system are given and examples are given as well.
 The problems of the participants of the domestic book market regarding electronic publications are outlined. The importance of complying with the requirements of legal and regulatory documents on publishing. Electronic publication published in accordance with current national standards has a much higher chance of quickly finding its way to the target audience.
