Electronic Measurement of Straightness based on Curvature

Abstract

As the author previously mentioned the theory of measuring straightness by use of dial gauge based on curvature, in the present paper, he applies this theory to the electronic measurement, and examines whether it is of practical use. In this method, by drawing th curve of straightness of the surface that is to be measured on the screen of the Braun tube automatically, he makes efficient use of the strong point of its theory that we can obtain fine measured values for inspecting straightness of rough surfaces such as scraper-finished ones, and, on the other hand, gets rid of the weak point that we are obliged to have a considerable amount of labour in its process, and makes it clear that this method is to be practically applicable.
