Abstract

The modern world is experiencing a boom in the development of information and communication technologies: cloud computing, technologies of big data, technologies of distributed processing of information, cyberphysical systems and many others promote digitalization of the entire sectors of economic development. There are new forms of production organization — Industry 4.0, financial institutions — digital banks. For implementation and mastering of new technologies, there are needed not only high-quality and highly skilled specialists, but personnel capable to work quickly with rapidly changing technologies. Therefore, nowadays the system of the higher education is faced with the task of building a flexible system able to quickly adapt to learning of specialists in the dynamically changing world, with a high level of quality. Information and communication technologies on the basis of which there is a process of creation of the systems of remote learning capable to provide flexibility and high quality of learning of engineering and economic personnel can play an important role in creation of such system. The paper discusses the development of e-learning systems in the world and in the Russian Federation. On the example of the distance learning system of Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University (SPbPU), the analysis of main trends and perspectives for the development of e-learning in higher education institutions is carried out. The main stages of building a modern system of distance education are considered. The e-learning system architecture is analyzed. The factors providing flexibility and improve the quality of personnel training in SPbPU are evaluated.
